Genetic diversity of Garra rufa was studied using 6 polymorphic microsatellite DNA loci. The specimens of G. rufa were collected from the Kheirabad and Maroon rivers. Despite high importance of this species, there is no genetic information about its population structure. A total of 133 alleles were detected at the 6 loci across the two populations. The Kheirabad population exhibited a lower genetic variation (Ho=0.429 and He=0.850) than the Maroon one. The average numbers of observed alleles in the Kheirabad and Maroon populations were 11.8 and 10.3, respectively. The genetic similarity and distance between the two populations were 0.721 and 0.326, respectively. It seems that Maroon population live under better conditions in contrast to the Kheirabad one. Diminution of genetic variation within examined populations decreases its adaptation to environmental alterations. Based on the results of this study, we can identify two different Garra rufa populations in the Khuzestan province

The purpose of this research was to propose a model of knowledge utilization in Social Sciences based on the analysis of the views of Iranian academics. This research was conducted based on a qualitative approach using grounded theory. The structured interview method was used to obtain the views of the experts. The research population consisted of academic members of Social Sciences in Iranian universities. Due to extensive statistical population, the sequential theoretical sampling was employed to select 25 academics having the highest number of both publications and citations (h-index) as the interviewees. So as to ensure the validity and reliability of this research, the evaluative criteria proposed by Lincoln and Guba were adopted. Moreover, to analyze the collected data and reach a theory, Theoretical Coding was applied. After coding, classifying and analyzing data, the research findings led to a model derived from the ideas of Social Sciences experts in four areas as Knowledge Production, Knowledge Transfer, Knowledge Sharing, and Knowledge Utilization. According to the results achieved from analyzing the ideas of Social Sciences experts, knowledge utilization was determined as the central core of the model.https://dorl.net/dor/20.1001.1.20088302.2021.19.2.8.6

Effect of mass diffusion on the damping ratio in micro-beam resonators

    Get PDF
AbstractPresent investigation is focused on studying the effect of mass diffusion on the quality factor of the micro-beam resonators. Equation of motion is obtained using Hamilton’s principle and also the equations of thermo-diffusive elastic damping are established using two dimensional non-Fourier heat conduction and non-Fickian mass diffusion models. Free vibration of a clamped–clamped micro-beam with isothermal boundary conditions at both ends, and also a cantilever micro-beam with adiabatic boundary condition assumption at the free end, is studied using Galerkin reduced order model formulation for the first mode of vibration. Mass diffusion effects on the damping ratio are studied for the various micro-beam thicknesses and temperatures and the obtained results are compared with the results of a model in which the mass diffusion effect is ignored. In addition to the classic critical thickness of thermoelastic damping, a new critical thickness concerning mass diffusion is introduced

Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) population has been declined in the Caspian Sea in the recent years, mainly due to human manipulation. This valuable species needs to be protected in the Caspian Sea. Considering the commercial value of common carp, its rehabilitation program has been established. In the present study, 8 microsatellite loci were used to assess genetic variation and population structure of common carp in Gomishan bay (GB) and Gorganroud River (GR). These two regions are the most important habitat of common carp. Mean actual (Na) and expected (Ne) alleles numbers were 15.12 and 11.35 for GB and GR, respectively. Mean observed (Ho) and expected (He) heterozygocity were 0.99 and 0.90 for GB and GR, respectively. Results, also, showed that all investigated loci were polymorphic. Twelve out of 16 tested locusĂ—region combinations showed significant deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) which could be mainly due to increase in He. FST index was found to be 0.011. Hence, AMOVA showed that observed variation was related to within population (99%) as well as between populations (1%). According to the results, it is suggested that studied populations have a great allelic richness and gene flow

The diorganotin(IV) compounds, [Me2SnCl2(H2L)], [Et2SnCl2(H2L)] and [Ph2SnCl2(H2L)] (H2L = (2H)-1,4-benzothiazine-2,3-(4H)-dione dioxime), were synthesized by treating the appropriate diorganotin(IV) dichloride with H2L in anhydrous ethanol. These complexes were characterized by IR, MS, UV-Vis, and 1H NMR. Thermodynamic studies of the reported complexes have been carried out and their stability were found in the order: [Me2SnCl2(H2L)] > [Et2SnCl2(H2L)] > [Ph2SnCl2(H2L)]. Theoretical calculations at the HF/3-21G* level showed that structures with alkyl groups at axial positions are more stable than their counterparts having alkyl groups at equatorial. KEY WORDS: Diorganotin(IV) dichloride, vic-Dioxime, (2H)-1,4-Benzothiazine-2,3-(4H)-dionedioxime, Thermodynamic studies Bull. Regarding the high importance of credibility evaluation of health information online in every day and career life, the current research aimed to explore how expert users including students and faculty members evaluate health information on the web especially with regard to their personality trait of conscientiousness. By considering the extensive body of literature and research methodologies, a random sample including 148 students and faculty members located at the two faculties of Medicine Sciences and Nursing and Midwife at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences was the population of the study. Two validated questionnaires related to credibility and conscientiousness was distributed among the participants. Gathered data were then analyzed by SPSS software. Data analysis showed that there existed some problems in evaluating the credibility of online health information and quick retrieval. About half of the participants evaluate web health information as credible often and very often. Most important quality assessment criteria were objectivity, currency, and authority. There was a significant correlation between conscientiousness and credibility assessment of the students and faculty members. There appears a change in trust to information found accord with the change in conscientiousness levels. There was no significant correlation between conscientiousness and trust to information among ill people. Quality and credibility were identified as most important problems in assessing health information on the web. There is a significant and meaningful correlation between conscientiousness and trust or mistrust to health information available via the Web

A 27-year-old woman was presented with a burning like lesion. The skin lesion was developed after a jellyfish stings (Rhizostomae) while she was swimming in Pattaya Sea in Thailand, five days prior to her presentation. Instantly after jellyfish stings, she was taken into the ship for rescue operations. The ship personnel applied lemon juice and baking soda to the injured area believing that this remedy is efficient in this situation. The next day, she referred to a local hospital at Pattaya because she was suffering from a horrible pain in her arm and then she was discharged on oral Dicloxacillin and topical Hydrocortisone. The edema was extended the next days which intensified her pain. At this time, she was transferred to Loghman Hakim Hospital, Tehran, Iran. At admission, erythematous edematous patch with centrally grouped vesicles on the left arm was observed (Figure 1). The patient had a high-grade fever (38.1 °C) and was agitated due to her intolerable pain. Other vital signs were normal. In the sonography imaging, soft tissue edema was seen without any collection. According to the clinical and imaging findings, the diagnosis of soft tissue cellulitis due to jellyfish stings was made. The patient admitted to infections ward and intravenous antibiotics including Cefazolin at dose of 2000 mg every eight hours and Vancomycin at dose of 1000 mg every 12 hours initiated. After five days of hospitalization, the patient was recovered from left arm edema. Also, her pain decreased gradually and no obvious erythema was seen. The patient was finally discharged with a satisfactory clinical respons
